FazTimes media: Abu Dhabi, UAE – As the summer sun continues to shine brightly over the capital, residents and tourists are finally finding a cool way to escape the heat during the night. Abu Dhabi has officially started its first night swimming beach, which combines new ideas, fun, and health benefits for the community. The beach is located at Marsana East Beach on Hudayriyat Island and looks gorgeous. It is open from July until the end of September. This special beach experience is perfect for families, couples, and people who like to explore on their own. Visitors can enjoy the sparkling sea under bright lights and feel the cool waves long after the sun goes down.

A Cool Idea for a Hot Time

In a city where summer days often hit 45°C, having a beach at night isn’t just a relaxing idea—it’s a real help. Abu Dhabi has changed the usual way people relax by letting them enjoy the beach in the evenings. This makes water activities easier to do and safer during the hot months.

Salma Al Remeithi, a local who came with her kids, said, "This is the best thing this summer. We love the beach, but the heat during the day is too much. Now we can go swimming after sunset without worrying about getting sunburned or dehydrated."

According to Al Jazeera, more cities in the Middle East are changing how they plan activities to match the extreme weather. Abu Dhabi’s night beach represents a significant step in that effort.

Floodlit Shores and Safe Swims

The night beach is not something you can just walk up to. Floodlights along the shoreline gently illuminate the water, creating a serene, moonlit atmosphere ideal for nighttime swimming. What’s more, the beach is closely watched by trained lifeguards until 10 pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends.

Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director of Leisure Projects at Modon Properties, the company that developed Hudayriyat Island, said, “We’ve made sure to keep things safe while still letting people relax.” He added, “This isn’t just a beach—it’s a complete summer experience.” For families, the setup is especially welcoming.

The beach has comfortable seating, shaded spots, and areas that are safe for kids, making it a wonderful place for everything from quiet evening strolls to fun family days out.

Themed Activities and On-Demand Dining

Besides swimming, Marsana East Beach has become a wonderful place for fun and tasty food. From Friday to Sunday, there are special beach events like glow-in-the-dark volleyball, music from DJs, and movies shown under the stars.

There are eight popular food and drink places located along the walkway. QR codes placed at the beach chairs allow you to order food. You can order sushi, fresh juice, burgers, and ice cream, and they will deliver them directly to your table.

Julia Benton, a tourist from the UK, said, "This kind of easy service is hard to find even at top hotels. We ordered drinks and snacks, and they came in 15 minutes—no waiting in line, no problems. "

Affordable Entry, Premium Experience

Even though you might expect it to be expensive, Abu Dhabi’s night beach is quite reasonable.

Families and groups can easily enjoy the place by paying the following entry fees:

From Monday to Thursday, open from sunset until 10 pm:

Adults (12 and older): Dh50
Children (6 to 11): Dh25
Children under 5: Free

On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, open from sunset until midnight:

Adults: Dh100
Children: Dh50
Children under 5: Free

All tickets give you access to top-quality beach furniture, small coolers with free water, and on-site bathrooms and showers.

If you visit often, you can get monthly passes or group discounts. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi also suggests booking in advance because the beach gets very busy.

Hudayriyat Island: A Rising Star

The opening of the night beach is another big step forward for Hudayriyat Island, which has quickly become one of Abu Dhabi's top places to live and enjoy.

The island has many fun things to do, like the Circuit X adventure park, bike paths, water sports areas, and the fancy Marsana dining district, making it a great spot for all kinds of people.

According to BBC News, the UAE has put a lot of effort into making public spaces enjoyable all year round.

Hudayriyat turning into a place where people can have fun anytime shows a bigger plan to make tourism and community health more sustainable.

"Abu Dhabi is changing what modern life by the coast should be," said Fatima Al Mazrouei, a consultant for leisure development. "By providing easy-to-reach, welcoming, and eco-friendly experiences, the city is leading the way in the region."

A Hit with Tourists and Locals Alike

In just one week, the night beach has become a popular spot on social media. Instagram is full of pictures showing glowing waves, people swimming at night, and families having fun with watermelon under the moon. “Maybe the project could become a famous attraction, like the Dubai Fountain or the Corniche Walk,” said Rami Hassan, a tour guide.

"Tourists love special places that are easy to take photos of, and this place has everything they need." Travel websites from around the world have also taken notice. Travel+Leisure The Middle East recently added Hudayriyat’s night beach to its list of “Top 10 Must-Visit Spots in the Gulf This Summer.”

A Step Toward Inclusive Wellness

More than just a new lifestyle trend, the night beach is also part of Abu Dhabi's wider plan to improve public health and wellness.

The idea is to encourage people to be more active in a cooler and safer environment, which improves their quality of life without sacrificing comfort or tradition. For people who follow Islamic modesty, nighttime is a more suitable time for family activities. Fewer people are present in the early evening, and special areas for women will be available during the upcoming weekends.

"This is a beach that welcomes everyone, no matter their background or choices," said Al Kaabi. “We are listening to what our community needs.”

Looking Ahead

As the UAE keeps coming up with new ideas for fun and city living, the success of Abu Dhabi’s night beach might encourage similar projects in other emirates—and maybe even throughout the region. There are already plans to keep the beach open later into October and add mobile wellness stations that offer yoga and massage on the beach.

At Marsana East Beach, the sound of kids playing, the smell of barbecued food, and the gentle sound of waves tell a simple story: Abu Dhabi has found a new way to bring people together—under the stars, near the sea.
