While most AWS-linked services began returning to normal by Monday afternoon, Snapchat continued to face performance issues.

According to data from Downdetector, reports of app failures declined sharply overnight but remained above normal levels. Many users said images were taking longer to load, and some reported missing chat histories.

AWS engineers said that a networking system controlling a database product was at the center of the problem.

Junade Ali, a fellow at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, said the issue “should be fully resolved within hours” unless deeper complications emerge.
