A Familiar Process Is Getting a Fresh Start

From July 1, Indian citizens in the UAE will begin using a new network of Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) operated by Al Hind Tours and Travels LLC. The transition replaces the previous service providers responsible for passport renewals, visa applications, and several other consular services.

For many residents, it means learning a new appointment system, visiting different service centres, and adapting to a revised application process.

Passport Services Are Becoming More Expensive

Alongside the operational changes, revised passport and consular service fees are also coming into effect.

Whether applying for a new passport, renewing an existing one, or requesting other consular services, applicants should expect to pay more than before. Authorities encourage residents to review the latest fee structure before beginning an application.

Travel Planning Now Requires Extra Attention

The changes extend beyond passport services. Travellers flying from the UAE to India should also check updated travel requirements, including Air Suvidha 2.0, where applicable.

Missing a required declaration or relying on outdated procedures could result in unnecessary delays at the airport.

Why Millions of Expats Should Pay Attention

The UAE is home to one of the largest Indian communities outside India, making these updates relevant to millions of residents.

Although the changes are administrative, they affect everyday services that many people depend on from renewing passports and obtaining visas to completing official documentation for work, education, and family matters.

More Than a Change in Providers

The transition reflects a broader shift toward digitised and streamlined consular services.

As governments modernise public services, applicants are increasingly expected to complete more processes online, stay informed about procedural updates, and prepare documentation in advance. For Indian expats, adapting early could make future applications faster and far less stressful.

The Bottom Line

These updates aren't just about higher fees or a new service provider they're about how millions of Indian expats will access essential government services going forward. Understanding the new system today could save both time and hassle tomorrow.
